Suspension strut mounting

Automotive Tool and mold making TruLaser Cell Aluminum Additive manufacturing

Molding and casting tools for automotive parts are very expensive. Modifying castings instead of manufacturing complete shape tools can save money and advance time. This is where laser metal deposition comes into use as a rapid prototype technology for customized castings. In this application, a suspension strut mounting is locally reinforced for the individual load case. By modifying the existing casting, an almost infinite number of variants can be produced. This demonstrator was created as a result of an R&D project.
